Sony RX100 V / by Matt Pham

It's the little camera that can! I've had this camera for awhile now but never really got to fiddle with it too much. But I got to spend a lot of time with it recently on my trip and mainly used it exclusively. Even with the time spent, I feel like I'm only at the tip of the iceberg of the RX100.

But before leaving I tried to add some apps to the camera and had the hardest time doing it. I couldn't pay with paypal or credit card. What I had to do was buy some Playstation store credit off amazon and link it to the account. Thought it was very strange it was the only option for buying apps. I much rather use paypal or a credit card since it would be for the exact amount instead of having left over credit.

That brings up another point of the apps, they have their own settings to adjust. I did not realize that until it was too late. I thought by setting the camera to raw+jpeg it be the default. But that isn't the case. You'll have to go through each and every individual app and tweak it to your liking. So don't make the same mistake I did, check your app settings! The Two images alone were taken without with the default app settings.

After spending my time almost exclusively using the RX100, I have grown to like it. There was some slight tweaks that needed to done for my photography style of shooting. But at the end of the day, its a really powerful camera in a pint size. Something easy enough to carry around without having to give up too much.

I recommend picking up a few extra batteries, it does hurt to have a few spares. It's something I always recommend with any devise that requires batteries. A screen protector against scratches and smudges. Lastly the little rubber grip seen in the picture above. That grip really makes a difference. It makes the camera a lot easier to hold on to like on ride photos. Without the grip, I'm sure the camera would've slipped out of my hands.
